I am a beginner myself. The tutorial misses so much. Then there is strategy. For example, one can focus on being a lover or a fighter. I hope far more experienced players will add to this thread. 

In the Disco, when it is empty, a set of scrambled letters will appear to the left of the bar tender. You can always Google an anagram site to piece the word for you. The result is the password for whatever segment of time. When the password is successfully entered, the player receives free items. Over time, they can add up and be sold right there to the bar tender or they can be used in parties at the nightclub.

On the far left column, on the Victory Cup icon, there are, at least four categories. Do not neglect them as they can springboard your money in a hurry.
